Sorry Mom ...

This project was done a while ago for my school art class. I found a ton of these old children's books buried in a box in my room. I took out an exact-o knife, a hot glue gun and went to work. Soon after this piece was completed I discovered that these were my Mother's childhood books that she had been saving for years ... it's a good thing I got a good mark on this.

And in his little fingers, he has more purity...

I was crafting today at work and got a tad restless of making kid's crafts. So I quickly pulled out some mono-printing materials and ended up with these! I've never done a mono print before so they aren't masterpieces, but you never know what your end result will be - so they are kind of exciting.
I'm getting very stoked on having this blog, so expect lots of little posts of doodles like these.

BOAF

This was the first wood burning project I ever did. I got countless burns from the soldering iron, almost melted the tips of my hair and I never sawed off the bottom of this. This was done for a "band" me and my friend Matt started, which never really got any farther than this block of wood. Maybe one day this will come in handy.

This is also an old project I never finished, and never will finish - but I ripped off Bloc Party.

In The Red

During the summer my dear friend, Logan Turner came down to Ontario for a visit. We decided to recreate a sketch I had done over two years ago of a three panel series with a woman falling and lyrics from The Beatles song Happiness is a Warm. With Wall Mart canvas, cheap tempera paints, and the soundtrack of Hercules we created this.

mak-kahb-ra

Here are some random sketchy type things that are scattered through out my sketch books and loose pieces of printer paper. These are all quickly done using pen and ink, some are very old as well. They also all kind of posses that eerie, twisted "macabre" style - therefor i think it is totally appropriate I post these on Valentines day ... Enjoy! ( the first one is someone emerging from themselves, not people having sex! )

First Semester

This was an assignment my art class did at the very beginning of the semester. We had to make a portfolio that included a song lyrics ( so of course I used "The Feeling of Being in Motion Again" ) our name, some symbolism that describes us and our favourite things. I used Pen and Ink to create the screaming man with birds in his lungs ... some how that is supposed to represent me. The light bulbs are hanging by bits of black yarn and the background is painted using acrylics. I really really enjoy drawing lines.

Two Steps Forward

Today I started a blog.
Yesterday I thought about the day before.
And the day before i thought about being scared.

I realized people can look exactly the same as they did, with hats and jeans and lace up shoes. But still be so different with shoulders and frowns and spots of spit.

I am a fan of change. I am a fan of the future.
